Something similar to this occurred to me while I was assisting another visually
impaired individual with their laptop. After running MalWareBytes, the computer
would say that it was connected to the network but would not connect to
internet using either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. After attempting some
troubleshooting steps which included system restore, it took a call to
Microsoft's disability tech support line to get the problem resolved.
Fortunately, the individual I was attempting to assist, though visually
impaired, had decent enough vision to perform the steps as directed by the
Microsoft technician. Unfortunately, I do not recall the steps though it did
involve going to Internet Options and to the connection tab. You may want to
compare the settings of a working computer to the one that cannot get online,
or, you can call Microsoft straight away.

Lenny,
The PC, if it's a laptop has a wireless external switch and an internal one
too.
That's the one, which is hard to access,
Depending on the type of laptop it is,

There is a key command like the FN key + F2 + F10, for example that will
allow you to turn it on/off.
Can anyone help on the correct command please.

Jorge

Is the wi-fi connected? Insert-F11 will show you the System Tray and the
wireless connection should be there.

will give that a try this evening when she gets home. I do not think it will
work but worth the try. Last night I had her try to search for IE and run it
but it could not find her wifi.

Hello Lenny:

Have you tried going to c:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe to
start IE from there? If that works, just make a shortcut to it for the
desktop, or pin it to the Start Menu or Task Bar.

I have never seen this before. My grandson’s girlfriends computer was
running extremely slow and I was asked to help. What a mistake. I first did
disk cleanup and internet options to delete history etc. This made no change
but removed over a gig of junk. I then had her download malware bytes and
run it.
It located 1,052 infections and removed them. It removed browser.exe and she
can now not get on the internet. She is using a wireless card. It looks like
her network is still there but the short cuts to internet explorer or her
email are gone.
