As far as I know, you can only read the title of the column or row that the cursor is currently in, so if you are focused on D3, you can hear the titels for column D and Row 3. To do this, press the key combination Insert + Control + Alt +C for column titles, and Insert + Control + Alt + R for rows. That's all there is to it. However, you must be focused on the first cell that contains the column or row titles to set this up. For instance if your column titles are in row 2, then focus on cell A2 and perform the key stroke above to set excel to read the column titles as you arrow around the page.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] question about Excel and JAWS

Hi, what I am one thing, is for it to read the column and row titles as headings. For example, if I list peoples names in column a and put the scores they earn in a game and columns BCDEFG and so on,. I wanted to read John Smith 300 points if I go to the third column and the third cell of that Collin. Is there a keystroke to make the headings read like that? Or rather, to make the column and row titles Rita settings? Does this make more sense? I hope so.
Thanks,
Dacia

Not totally sure what you mean, Excel will read the cells as you navigate with the arrow keys. Does shift+spacebar help as that will select the entire colum, or ctrl+space bar anyway.

Hi,

How do you make excel read columns as you navigate through them.
What I mean is if I'm keeping score during a game, how do I make it read the names when I scroll down the individual columns? What's the keystroke for that? I have excel 2013 and a windows 8.1 machine running jaws 16.

thanks,

Dacia
