not sure why the google accessible search doesn't work for you,
I justt went to:

http://www.google.com/accessibility/labs/search/

had no issues.

although I just use the regular google page.

if you use;

https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0
you will not see the
Screen-reader users, click here to turn off Google Instant.
