If you exited JAWS with the insert f4 command, then control alt j will usually work. If not, then press the windows key and the letter m, which takes you to the desktop. Press j, and assuming you have no other desktop items that begin with j, press enter, and JAW should start talking.

You repeat the same steps. insert plus space bar, then after you
hear the
beep, press s.

Mike:

Thanks for the additional info.

I actually got the insert spacebar S command to work, once I got
the timing
right.

Now, I'll at least have another tool in my toolbox.

Hi Tom,

When using the, Insert, Spacebar, + S, keystroke to mute / unmute
Jaws, make
sure that you hold down the Insert / Jaws key first, then press
the
spacebar, then let up on both keys after you hear the sound, then
press, S.

There is nothing wrong with using the, Insert + F4, then pressing
enter
keystrokes to unload Jaws, & reloading with Jaws with your
assigned
keystroke.
Take care.

Janie:

It's Jaws 16.0.4350.

However, I did just get it to work.

I find that it's not totally consistent on this laptop, though,
and wonder
if there is any harm done by just doing the insert F4 command,
and then
getting back into Jaws with the usual alt control j shortcut.

How about insert F4?

I couldn't get insert space S to work on the laptop I'm using
here.
