I imagine that they use the scroll wheel, or the scroll bars to scroll the
screen down. It is because of screen readers that we get web pages that
appear to us like regular documents. I am thinking that the virtual buffers
cause the scripting on the page to not see scroll events, since what we read
is all loaded in the virtual buffers.

Brent.
If that this the case, than how does the page recognize a sighted person
scrolls down the page? Maybe I'm just unaware of how most sighted people
read Webpages with a mouse.

I thought I remember that Paypal Credit/BillMeLater has an agreement like
this. It seems to be very hit and miss to get it to become available. I
think it has to do with the fact that JFW, or most screen readers I know
of, don't scroll things like sighted people do. Since there is a virtual
buffer and no real cursor on a website, we are going through the motions
to go through something like this, but it likely won't register.

I think there is a checkbox you have to check before the buttons are
available.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Problem completing a privacy agreement screen on a
HRportal commonly used in job applications
Hello all.
I realize I rarely post on the JAWS users list, but I'm helping a family
member apply for online jobs and have run into an issue with one of the
big
online candidate profile sites that I think could be JAWS related. The
issue
is with People Answers.
People Answers (http://www.peopleanswers.com) is a Website that
companies
use to host online assessments and questionnaires for job candidates.
When I
log in to the site to begin a job assessment from an employer using this
portal, I'm forwarded to a page asking me to scroll through an agreement
and
click "I Agree" to except it. When I scroll through the agreement, JAWS
reads, "I Agree button unavailable" and "I do not agree unavailable."
The
sighted person I'm working with says the button is grayed out, and she
can't
click on "I Agree."
I've scrolled through the entire agreement at least three times this
evening
using Internet Explorer; I also tried this page under Mozilla Firefox
with
the same result. I've had similar issues with this portal in the past.
So
far, I've only gotten this button to populate correctly twice, and both
times it's taken me an hour to scroll through the information on the
agreement multiple times.
The agreement itself consists of two sections: a privacy statement and
terms
of use. Both have separate links to allow you to open and print the
privacy
statement and terms of service, then close the page to return to the
application. I've had to open and close the page multiple times to get
the
"I agree" buttons to populate correctly. This evening, I was unable to
do so
at all after scrolling to the bottom of the page at least three times
under
Internet Explorer 11 and once under Mozilla Firefox 40. I'm using JAWS
16,
build 4350 with a 64-bit PC running Windows 10.
I'd like to know if anyone is familiar with this online job portal and
has
any solutions to this.
Thanks in advance.
Chris.
