Yo bro:
Thanks for this but I'm unable to mute the alt key, as it's not there as a
choice in the manage key labels dialog. I tried muting the shift key but I
get this message:
JAWS Settings Center
The mute/speak state of Shift cannot be toggled because this key is used
in combination with other keys.
OK.
Maybe I should try the dictionary manager? Personal preference to always
hear alt windows shift all the time in this application I'm using.

Hi Kimsan,

Try the following, it uses the Tab key as the example:

if you want the tab key silent;

you can try the following;
note,if you want the action to be global, you will need to do a
ctrl+shift+d=default.

1, open configuration manager,

so, insert+f2, then arrow and enter on configuration manager.
note again if you want the setting to be global, you will need to press
ctrl+shift+d here.

2, alt+s=options,

3, arrow down to,
keyboard options, or, just press the letter,"k".
your now on the keyboard general page.

ctrl+tab=KeyLabelsPage.
now tab into the list view.
now press the letter "t" until you hear tab, now, tab one time you will
hear; toggle mute button, so, press the spacebar, now, tab okay, enter,

you will most likely need to say yes to changes.
Take care.
Mike

Hey folks,

I'm looking under the setting center/manage key lables. I'm unable to mute
the alt key. How can I mute this sucker?

I have that key assigned for a nav key in combo with another; however, it
keeps announcing alt, which gets annoying, so if it's not available in the
manage key lables to mute what do I do?
