Hi David, When the display says "terminal for screen reader" the enter key needs to be pressed and the display will read "Terminal mode." Also, the switch on the left side of the unit needs to be slid toward the front of the unit. If the switch is in the back position Bluetooth can be used. For USB connection the switch should be pushed toward the front of the BrailleEdge.
