down list or combo box

Rebooting computer, closing and restarting JAWS, closing and restarting
Excel...none of these change JAWS announcement when it comes to
automatically announcing presence of a drop down list/box in a cell when I
arrow to it. For example one of the cells with the drop down has some text
with a little graphic of an arrow to the right of the text in the same cell
that the visual user mouse clicks to open the drop down. I have been told by
the sighted person of the presence of this drop down in that cell so I can
hit alt down-arrow to open it and then arrow up/down the opened drop down
list and make my selection. The big problem though is that independently I
am unable to even know of the presence of the drop down as JAWS does not
announce the presence of a drop down when I land on that cell.

I am using Windows7, JAWS16 and Office2010, at work on a 32bit machine, and
at home on a 64bit machine. When I navigate to a cell in Excel that is
formatted for a dropdown list, JAWS does announce it most of the time.
Sometimes I do have to close everything and reboot the computer, but this is
to most often resolve the problem of JAWS not reading a number of things in
Excel including cell contents with F2, and the contents of dropdown lists.
As best as I can remember, even in the state of not reading cell content,
JAWS still told me that the cell I was focused on was a dropdown list.

HTH,
Annette

Subject: [JAWS-Users] KBD command in Excel to list all cells with drop down
list or combo box

Hello there. Win8, JFW6, Office 2010.
Is there a JAWS command in Excel that lists all cells in the worksheet
containing a drop down list or combo box?
JAWS command 'alt down-arrow' opens a drop down list or combo box if it
exists in the cell in focus. Then I am able to arrow up and down the dropped
list or combo box and hit enter on any of the choices to activate it. But
JAWS does not announce the presence of such a drop down list or combo box in
a cell as you navigate around from cell to cell using the arrow keys making
it impossible to become aware of such a drop down list or combo box. With
respect to objects, tis problem does not exist as JAWS has the keystroke
combo 'ctrol shift O' that lists all the objects and their respective cell
in the worksheet in focus. Is there a similar command for JAWS to list all
the cells in a worksheet that contain a drop down list or combo box?
