I am saying that is what I have done. The difference is, the IMAP has different
server/port numbers than the POP.

POP settings is:

SMTP: 587
POP:110
Server: server-tx.rr.com
*note: my ISP wants me to change the server to new server, which would be:
mail.twc.com for both SMTP/POP
but when I do, the nasty window's credentials window pops up wanting me to log
in and just will not go away, I have to alt tab away from that window. Mail
comes in for awhile, then it seems to hiccup.

The IMAP settings are as follows:
as for SMTP: 587 and as for POP: 143
server: mail.twc.com

Now I embarked on this maddness because it would seem settings on other
non-window's systems had some errors within settings. The SMTP was showing 993
with SSL checked, but that number does not match the required settings for
POP/IMAP based on what my ISP tells me.

I can live with the pop new settings if that annoying window's credentials
window would not rear it's ugly head.

  Trish,

So, you are saying you have an IMAP and a POP 3 account set up for the same
email address on the same computer? I have never heard of this, although that
is not saying it can't be done, and unless you are using separate email
clients and/or identities within the same client I don't understand how it can
happen. That said, and this is just my opinion, I think once you delete that
POP 3 account, those folders are gone and not accessible through IMAP.

  Hello AL,

Thanks for explaining that. I am aware of the differences of mailbox’s vrs
folders and what is available via each deviceI have the IMAP setup on those
devices. I presently have both IMAP and POP setup still on the window’s 7
laptop.
What I need to know is, if I delete the “POP” email account, can I still
access my “POP” folders on this computer?

  Trish,

Your existing folders in the POP3 account will be accessible from the device
configured as POP 3 with that account. any device configured as IMAP will not
see them because those folders are on the local device that created them. To
say another way, my primary account with road runner is POP 3 because I share
with my wife on two separate computers at home. However the folders she has on
her computer and the ones I have on mine are different. Now, when we travel, I
can get our mail on my IPhone for that account but it is IMAP as the phone will
not let me setup POP 3. So the only thing I see on the phone that is the same
as on home PC is inbox. Does this answer your question? The easiest way to
understand this is IMAP folders, info, etc. is maintained at the ISP server;
POP 3 folders etc. you create are on the local device that created them.

update on my question, I read some info so i was able to create an IMAP
account, weather that was a smart move or not remains to be seen.
This was necessary for other devices with email functions that required IMAP
accounts.
I can deal with this type of account as long as my existing email folders I
created using the POP account are still available to access, if anyone can tell
me that 1M questions, would make me happy.
