The point is there are many ways to do almost anything on a computer. 
Whatever works for you is the right way.

With windows seven, I just go to the desk top and press alt F4 to shut down
windows.  I thought that that was what everybody did. Am I wrong again?

Ever since XP hit the streets the command for shutting down a Windows system
is as easy as opening the run dialog and entering the following command:

Shutdown -s -f -t 00

The 00 is for immediate shutdown. If you want it to turn off in 30 seconds
then just enter 30 instead of 00. The rest should be obvious.

Alt + F4 opens the traditional Shutdown Window in Win 10 but don't tell M$.
They might remove it in the next update.
