Does this use up an activation code? I should know. Used one of mine in June when Jaws seemed to think I did not have one for no good reason as there had been no changes to my system. Unhappy when that happens but only once before years ago so lucky I guess.

Therefore, if your SMA will allow you to obtain the JAWS 17.0 release and the JAWS 18.0 release if this is the following release after JAWS 17.0. If you have a SMA for the nenxt release that enable you to get JAWS 17, you can’t not use JAWS 17 and use JAWS 18.0 for your SMA. so I guess there are many types of SMAs that can be purchased, you need to ask about which one is best for your needs!
