Pablo:

I'm sorry that I neglected to put the information about the degree of my
visual impairment in my original post.

I am legally totally blind, and use the Jaws Speech Screen Reading program.
I'm currently using Jaws version 16.

Although I don't personally use a monitor, I would like a monitor that is
reasonably easy to look at, should I happen to need sighted assistance.
With this in mind, I don't think a smaller monitor would be an issue.

I'd be very interested in any tablet recommendations you can make, based on
what I have now shared with you here.

Honestly, I have tried several tablets, and have not found a lot of
differences between the most part of tablets that I tried. I have a personal
tablet, Microsoft surface pro 2, with a processor i5, and 8 g of ram, it
works faster than my desktop. For working I use a dell Venue pro 11 that I
use in my work, and it has a atom 2.3 Ghz and just 4gb of ram. The dell
tablet works just fine, working on office 2013 pro. So make a recommendation
about whitch tablet is better, I need to ask you first, are you totally
blind, or you need magnification? A tablet with a small display will be
better if you are a screen reader user, if you need to use magnification, a
large screen is better. A good processor and more than 4 or more ggb of ram
are going to make your life better, now, the brand?
Just Microsoft is not the best. Dell has good tablets also, Asus, acer,
Lenovo, HP, just a little bit of commmon sence, brands that are popular, no
something that you never heard before.

Matthew:

A number of other list members have suggested the surface pro to me, so I
think I will start checking into them here.

The case with keyboard also seems appealing, should I need to do a lot of
text entry when traveling.

Thank you!

Hi,

I wonder if a serface pro would be would work for you. I think you can get
a case with a keyboard and with that in mind, you should be good.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Tablets

Hello, everyone.

I have a question that I hope will not be considered off topic for this
list.

I would like to purchase some sort of a Windows tablet to use when
traveling, and for when I don't want to drag my laptop computer around.

I am currently using Jaws 16, but plan to upgrade to Jaws 17 at some point,
probably in the next few months.

I assume that any windows-based tablet that I might get now will
automatically come with Windows 10 installed, which I'm ok with, since I'll
eventually need to upgrade my other computers to that operating system at
some point.

Can anyone give me recommendations and approximate costs of windows tablets
that would have sufficient resources to accommodate Jaws, and basic
Microsoft software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook e-mail, etc.?

At one point, I had considered moving to an IPad, but I am quite comfortable
with the Jaws to windows interface, so would prefer to stick with a Windows
tablet if at all possible.

Thank you!
