As someone else on the list very rightly pointed out, not every task can be achieved by cutting and pasting. I have not been able to move my shortcuts around on the desktop by cutting and pasting, and I know there are a couple of other instances where dragging and dropping was the only way around and I didn't have the knowledge at the time to do it myself.
