Hi The option of reading PDF documents in IE or not is an Adobe option, not an IE option. The easiest way to change it is to start Adobe Reader, then go to the edit menu and open the Accessibility sub-menu. From there choose Setup Assistant and press enter. This brings up a multi-page document. On the first page, be Shure to skip Use default settings and bypass setup. Then on the last page of this dialog is the option to Display PDF documents in the web browser. Check this option if you want to have PDF document open in IE, or uncheck it if you want PDF documents to be opened in a separate Adobe Reader window. I believe that this option can also be found in Preferences, but I don't know exactly where it is.

Thanks for sending it to me. I know the tech changed something in IE to make it open Adobe Reader on its own page. I thought he had disabled the add on but I did that and I did that an it did not help. So I am not sure what he changed. I have been all over IE and cannot find what he could have changed. Thanks again Ed -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike B Sent: Sunday, November 29, 2015 5:20 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] What to change in IE to make PDF file read Hi Ed, Here's a note I had saved that might help you: From: Gerald Levy I finally figured it out. As I mentioned previously, I could not get IE 11 to read a PDF document when ever I encountered a Google search result labled as "PDF". When I clicked on the link, it would open on a blank page. But I solved this problem by launching Adobe Reader, and bringing up the Preferences dialog on the Edit menu. I scrolled down to Security (Enhanced) on the list of options, tabbed once to the option labeled "Enable Enhanced Security Mode at Start Up", which was checked by default, and unchecked it. Now when I encounter a PDF document in IE 11 and activate the link to read it, Adobe Reader processes and reads it. I remember this being discussed on this list or elsewhere some time ago, but had forgotten about it. Hope this helps others who are experiencing the same problem. Gerald Take care. I had a tech change something in IE that made Adobe Reader open in its own window. When he did that JAWS would read the pdf file. Then I could close the PDF file and I would be back on the link in IE where I clicked on it. I need to find what he changed in IE as I had to reset my IE setting back to default. If anyone knows what I have to change in IE to make Adobe Reader open in it's on window please let me know. Thanks for any help on this matter.
