So anyone looking for a work-around in the meantime might be as happy as I am to discover that Narrator is a help in this situation. Here’s hoping that perhaps one day sooner rather than later JFW can be made to work better in this dialog once again as it did in jfw and office versions past. I hope that helps someone.
