Thanks, I am running JAWS17 anyway. The install of Microsoft Windows 10 forced me to remove JAWS17 as it said it was not compatible but I think this is because I turned off the check for updates during the install process to save time. It did crash the installation with an unhelpful error message while running JAWS but I ran the installation again without JAWS running, just using NVDA and it seems tto have upgraded fine now.
I Must say that I cannot see any benefit to upgrading at all apart from the fact that Microsoft are giving it away free and you should always try to have the latest operating system for support reasons. Windows Media Centre is gone which is a shame and you can't control your updates downloading like you used to be able to do. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Moore Sent: 08 January 2016 21:55 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Windows 10 Hi, You must run the tool on the FS site to remove all versions of JAWS, along with shared components that are before JAWS 16.0.4350. That is the earliest version of JAWS that will work with win10. Make sure that all other JAWS versions have been removed with the FS removal tool that is found on the FS website. Also, running this FS tool will remove mirror display drivers that are a part of JAWS 16.0.4350. Win10 is not compatible with mirror display drivers. The new JAWS that can run on win10 has display, but not mirror display drivers. That is why you really need to run that FS tool first to get all of that off of your computer before you install win10. Have a great one. -----Original Message----- From: matthew dyer Sent: Friday, January 8, 2016 4:37 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Windows 10 Hi, What veraion of jfw are using?
