Tom,
Download the standalone version of GWX control panel and run it. It does not
install anything on your computer. It just sets the options to prevent the
downloading and installation of W10. This is not rocket science. It just
works. I have run it on a dozen computers with no adverse effects. And in
the future, if you decide you want to install W10, just run the program
again and it will reverse the changes it has previously made, allowing you
to download and install W10.
I agree that I never want to install unnecessary software on my computers.
In this particular case, this program just works and it is fully accessible
with Jaws, which is an added wonderful bonus. So, go ahead and do it and
kick that annoying W10 nag out of your life.

Rick:
I may just do that.
Up until last night, I was content to see if what the Microsoft
Accessibility help line specialist did would help, but obviously it was
not
successful.
I am just reluctant to put software on a computer for something like this
if
it is not needed.
I guess my bigger point is that we should not constantly be badgered about
software updates, especially updates that don't go away, despite
Microsoft's
own efforts to try to make that happen.
I have an iPhone, and am constantly getting updates on the lates IOS
updates, but the option to accept or hide them is always there and easy to
invoke by the end user. Why can't that be the same with Microsoft?

Hi Tom,
Wy don't you give the GWX Control Panel a shot, it worked just fine on
every
system I have used it on, no more Windows 10 messages.

Hello, everyone.
Well, it looks like the hour that the Microsoft Accessibility Hotline
technician spent the other day trying to remove the "get windows 10" popup
removed from my computer was ultimately unsuccessful.
The thing is back!
Looks like it's time once again to call the Hotline, and have them try
again!
I find this to be absolutely ridiculous!
