Skype is different than Skype for Business.

Have you listened to the free FS webinar on using Skype and setting the
accessibility for the use of screen readers?

At work we are trying to find a way to provide technical assistance to
remote employee's using JAWS. I am at my wits end with IT Tech Rep's
removing or disabling JAWS as a solution to a user's problem when it is not
the cause of the problem. There are some issues that can be resolved
remotely by a Tech who understands the use of JAWS on a user's computer.

Our latest situation is that Skype for Business was pushed to everyone's
computer. It is set to automatically launch and it wants the user to sign
in. We have found countless accessibility problems with the application,
that we are taking it out of the start menu for JAWS and Magic users. At
many of our regional offices, the IT Tech's are removing JAWS or disabling
JAWS instead of doing what we asked with Skype for Business. I guess from
their perspective if the assistive technology is removed from the equation
the problem is gone. Of course, then the new problem is that the employee
cannot do their job.

If the tandem session is initiated by the "target" computer, does the
"controller" computer still need to be running the same or newer JAWS
version? Unfortunately, IT does not own JAWS17 and we've started updating
users to JAWS17.

Thanks,
Annette

Although at first I was under the impression that someday tandem would be a
charge service that has never come to pass. In short it is still free and
works quite well. The main requirement is that the controlling computer be
running a licensed version of JAWS and it be the same version or newer than
the client system.

The client system after landing in the utilities menu needs to hit enter
three times and then wait for the controller to give a code.

I have done it so many hundreds of times it is simply automatic, muscle
memory pretty much.

Do you need some sort of help? FYI make certain you trust the person who
takes control of your system because they have the same level of access to
it as you yourself. Naturally you can observe everything they are doing
while they work.

Hi All,

I am not writing the below message to start controversial outbursts here on
the list. So if you have criticisms of whatever the answers might be to the
questions I pose below, please reframe from posting them.

Is there a charge or subscription required for the use of JAWS Tandem? Does
it make a difference if you are using a Direct Session verses a Center
Connection? My questions come from what I read on the Freedom Scientific
website at URL:

http://www.freedomscientific.com/JAWSHq/JAWSTandemQuickStart

The above mentioned URL only provides information about using JAWS Tandem
with JAWS10 and WindowsXP & Vista. Does anyone know if the instructions and
information on the above URL is applicable in Windows7 and Windows10 when
using JAWS 17 and/or JAWS16? I've done only a little more searching and
have not found answers to my questions.

Thanks,

Annette

You don't have to be crazy to run a list like this, but it does help.
