Hello,
I got the directions to reverse the operation of the fn function key
from a friend as follows, but you will need sighted help:
In Windows 7, press F2, F10 or Delete, whichever one your screen tells you
to press, immediately after you turn on your laptop, to enter the bios
settings. However, in Windows 8 and Windows 10, you have to tell the
computer to boot up to the bios settings, as follows:
Select the option to access the BIOS in the Windows boot options menu.
Once you are in the bios settings, go to the system configuration tab &
DISABLE the action keys mode.
This will reverse the fn key mode so that the f1 to f12 keys will function
without the fn key, and other controls using the function keys will also
operate without the fn key.
My friend got this tip from the following web site:
http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-64792-laptop-function-key-problem
Hope this helps,
Don

otherwise, you may have to do this through the bios.

perhaps the easiest is,
1, from desktop,
press the keystroke windows-key+x,
2, now down arrow and enter on,
windows mobility center.
3, now use the tab key and look for something which sounds like, toggle
Function Key "Function Key" instead of "Multimedia key", tab once and arrow
up or down to make the change, now alt+f4 to exit from mobility center.
hope this helps.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws and function keys
Hi,
As stated before I got me a new laptop, the function key commands such as
insert f12 will not read the time. How do I make them work? No ordinary
commands that jaws uses with the function keys will work.
Thanks.
