I am using MS-Word2010 and JAWS17 on a Windows7 computer. When I have a Word doc opened, I can use Insert+Page down and find out which page in the document I am on, how many pages in the document, and the total number of words in the entire document. However, there is a way to get additional details.
Go to Review on the Ribbon, and navigate over to the 3rd item which is "Word Count". When you select it a dialog box comes up with a bunch of statistics about your document. If you want to hear the info again, you will need to use either Insert+B or your JAWS cursor. But wait, there is more. If you select some desired amount of text, and then select "Word Count" from the Ribbon you will get the statistics for only the text that is selected. Be aware that the number it provides for pages in this situation is how many pages the selected text takes up, not the page number of where the text is. I hope this makes sense. The keyboard command for this is Alt, R, W My final comment is that if you use Insert+Page Down when you have text selected, you will only get the page and word count info for the entire document.
