Hi Jorge, If you checked the Normal startup radio button on the General tab, then Control + Tab, to the startup tab, & arrow down through all the programs on the startup tab you will find all of them checked. Now, close msconfig with the escape key & reopen it. If the, Selective Startup radio button, is checked Control + Tab, to the Startup tab, & you'll see that only selected checkboxes are checked. At least this is the way msconfig works in XP & Windows 7, I don't know about other operating systems. Take care. Hi, I, anyways have only 3 tabs checked, So either option would work for me. But, thanks for bringing those 2 options to view. When the, Selective Startup, option is selected on the, General tab, only the programs that are checked on the Startup tab, will run / start when you start / bootup your computer. Take care. It's not windows 7 but instead windows 10. I just noticed mine was set to selective. At the risk of sounding dumb, what's the difference between setting it to normal vs selective. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: Friday, March 18, 2016 10:30 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Programs in startup Arianna, I also have Win7 and I'm running JAWS 16 and 17. If I understand the problem correctly, you need to remove the application from MSConfig, where all the applications appear that open when your system reboots. I'll copy the instructions that have worked for me, but I'll add a caveat. The first screen lists several options for restart. Be sure to keep focus on "Normal startup," the top item, before going to the checklist. Otherwise, you might reboot into a diagnostic mode where JAWS doesn't work. Here goes: To run MSConfig: 1. Press windows key-r. 2. Type "msconfig.exe" (without the quotes) in the Search box. Press Enter. 3. Note: Here's where you press insert-numpad 8 to confirm that "Normal startup" is selected. 4. Tab to the Startup tab. A list of all the startup programs displays with a check box next to each one. 5. To prevent a program from starting up with Windows, select the check box next to the desired program so there is NO check mark in the box. 6. Tab and click OK once you have made your choices. 7. A dialog box displays telling you that you may need to restart your computer for the changes to take affect. Click Restart to restart your computer immediately. If not ready to restart your computer, click Exit without restart. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Arianna Calesso Sent: Friday, March 18, 2016 12:00 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Programs in startup Rick, I'm using Windows 7 and Jaws 16. I did exactly what you prescribed, but it wouldn't delete the two things listed there. Any other ideas?
