Mike, a few suggestions: When I've encountered a failure of alt-F4 to close a program, sometimes alt-tabbing out of that window and bringing up the windows list with JAWS key+F10 gets me back to that window. I press enter, and then suddenly alt-F4 works again. If not, an alt-spacebar plus x (window maximization) and then JAWS key+escape (refresh) between the Windows list and the windows close command might work. Unfortunately, not always.
Another thought: You can bring up the list of running apps with control-alt-delete. Arrow down (in this case) to calculator, then tab over to "close" or the equivalent. (I tried testing this while writing this post, and almost lost the message as a result, so I can't conveniently confirm the exact wording.) -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike B Sent: Wednesday, June 08, 2016 11:51 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator, How To Turn It Off! Hi Tom, Thank you very much for your help. In this instance, for whatever reason, the, Alt + F4, keystroke didn't work, & the only way this person was able to close the calculator was rebooting the computer. Thanks again. Take care. Mike: If I accidentally turn on the calculator in Windows 7 on my Dell laptop, I always get out of it with a simple Alt f4. The weird thing is that Jaws does not give you the standard exit announcement, but the command does seem to exit out of the calculator for me. Hi All, Running Windows 7 & Jaws 16. What is the keystroke for closing the calculator when you don't know anything about it? Thanks much. Take care. Mike FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!
