My problem is that with .png files, the freedom import option
doesn't show up. It does with other graphic files, but not .png files.

Vickie,
Correct. Use the Freedom Import Printer feature built in to
Openbook 8.0.

I have Openbook, but it is version 8.0, so .png isn't a file option.

You will need some OCR software to do it. Kurzweil, Openbook,
Omnipage
come
to mind. Use your iPhone to convert the text from the printed page
with
one
of many apps to do it.

What if you don't have that option, what would be an alternative
method?

Does anyone know of a good program that will convert .png files to
a word
or
text format so I can read them?
Thanks.
