Mike, I'm experiencing this behavior, too. Go back to the system tray, click on Windows updates, then tab twice. If you get the same verbalization I do, you'll hear, "System tray, new updates available." Here it's a button. Press enter and you're in business. For progress reports, I think you need to return to the system tray and repeat the operation.
