Hi Maria, Adrian, & Mario,

Well, this computer ran checking for updates for many hours yesterday, & 
finally after several hours this morning I got close to 250 important / 
optional updates.  They've already downloaded, & are about 75% installed. 
Thanks to all of you for your input.

I also see the zero percent progress report when updating, even though
the updates are actually happening.
