Al this is how I do it
I don't type a path just use the tab button
========
choose exactly where you want to save a file

I will use notepad to explain this
create your document
when you finish and want to save it press the alt key to activate the standard menubar
navigate the menubar with the left and right cursor keys
highlight the file menu and press the down arrow key to save as
when you press save as then windows prompts you to name your file
after naming press tab
you will get to what the file will be saved as such as txt
press tab make sure the next selection says hide folders
WHEN YOU HIDE FOLDERS THE FOLDERS ARE ACTUALLY DISPLAYED
tab and you will get to encoding as such as ascii
tab again and you will get a save button
do not press the save button
tab to cancel
tab to all locations splitbutton press spacebar
do not press spacebar but tab
you will land on search box type in text
i tab past this
the next is command module toolbar organize button
do not press the button
tab to preview and arrow right and down until you get to your desired location
THE PREVIEW PANE DISPLAYS THE FOLDERS THE SAME WAY AS IN WINDOWS EXPLORER
press tab until you get back to save
press enter on save

it's basically the same in other programs
from the file menu always press save as then press tab to choose the save location
in microsoft word the shortcut for save as is F12

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] How can I get Word Docs into folders

Hi Adrian,

Thanks again for your help. I tried pressing F-12 and than entering my
folder's name and the name of my new document, but it went into my document
files and not into the named folder.

I go back to the DOS days when we would use back slashes to determine the
different areas we wanted the document to go into.

I'll give you an example and can you please let me know what I should type
after pressing F-12. Lets say my folder's name is JAWS, and the new
document I just typed I want to call it 1234,

Now, I want my new document 1234 to go into the JAWS folder. How do I type
this after hitting F-12?

Thanks again,

Al

The short answer is press F12, then type the path and filename. If this
doesn't mean much to you, would you post back with the name of your folder.
If you happen to know if this folder is a subfolder of a larger one, include
that name as well.

Hi Adrian,

Thank you very much, your instructions worked great!!!

Now, how can I send a new document that I have just typed into a particular
folder that is already set up? Thanks for any help.

Al

A basic method would be this:

1. With the document closed, place focus against its name and press
control-x for "cut."

2. Move focus to the desired folder and press control-v.

Note. Be sure nothing in the target folder is verbalized as "selected." If
you're unsure, press control-spacebar to deselect before pressing control-v.

If all your documents are to be moved into the same folder, you can select
all with control-a, then press control-x. Then proceed by moving to the
desired folder and press control-v.

Please post again if this isn't clear or if you're looking for something
more. For example, you may want to move several files, but not all of them,
into the same folder.
