Hi,
To use Narrator on the desktop,
You must press caps lock+D to hear the current desktop item you are on, and
you must press the left and right arrows to hear other icons on your
desktop. The up and down arrow keys will not work on the desktop. Make sure
you go to the Narrator window and memorize the key commands. They are
totally different than using JAWS or NVDA.

narrator toggle on/off win key+enter
it's best to exit jaws before using narrator or you will have two
screenreaders talking at the same time
you'll get a headache!
