Narrator can be started quickly when Jaws stops talking for some reason. Simply create a shortcut on the Desktop for Narrator, that can be launched from the desktop or via a shortcut key. The file path to Narrator in Windows XP, Vista and 7 is as follows:
C:\Windows\System32\Narrator.exe I suspect the file path is the same in Windows 8 & 10. Once you have located the file, simply press the applications key then select the "Send to" menu, and finally select Desktop create shortcut. This will place a shortcut on the desktop, and you can assign a keystroke from the properties of the shortcut. Alternatively, you can de-select all items on the desktop, by pressing the combination of the spacebar and the control key, and then press the applications key, and select shortcut from the New sub-menu,and copy the above file path into the target field of the shortcut, and then tab to the okay button and press the spacebar. I haven't checked the jaws-users website, but it is possible that Dave already has a shortcut for Narrator there.
