It would depend on how old your computer is, and the hard ware your running.
My older computer takes about twenty minutes to check for updates, but my
laptop, which was purchased last year with 16 gigs or RAM and a solid state
drive, takes about a minute.
The older computer has 2 gigs or RAM, and a standard 5200 RPM hard drive
and like I said, it'll take anywhere from twenty minutes to a half hour to
check for updates.
Hope this helps.

is it normal for windows update to take over an hour to check for updates?
i KNOW i ASKED THIS QUESTIONearlier but I am asking it again because it
took over an hour to check for windows updates and it only found one
update I figured since it was taking so long it would have found more than
one.
That is why I am asking this question if it is normal to take over an hour
to check for updates?
Thanks in advance
