FS/VFO never recommend this method, and it may well be different.

SOFTWARE

but you don't need to use a command line to repair! all that is needed to do
is enter on the executable of the current version of jaws in the download
folder. the jaws setup begins, jaws will detect that the current version of
jaws is trying to install over itself, so a list of options appear modify,
repair or remove isn't that sufficient?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] INITIATING A JAWS REPAIR WITH CURRENT VERSIONS OF
THESOFTWARE

Hello fellow Jaws users. I wanted to thank David Ferrin for his help with this
situation. One of our list members recommended that I initiate a repair of
Jaws. To be quite honest, I didn't remember how to do that.
Below, is a detailed set of instructions. In this situation, we are using a
"command line" which directly handles the repair. I hope that there are
others who might want to save these instructions for the time when they might
have to repair Jaws. Thanks again, David.

JAWS REPAIR SEQUENCE

This is the procedure for initiating a repair in Jaws. Make
sure that there is a clean copy of the most current version of Jaws in the
Downloads folder.

1. Focus on the executable file.

2. Press SHIFT+APPLICATIONS key.

3. Press the letter A until Copy As Path is reached and press Enter to
initiate that process.

4. Open a Notepad screen and paste the copied path into it.

5. Press spacebar and then the following command line.
/type repair That is space, forward slash immediately followed by the word
type, space, the word repair

6. Copy or cut the entire sequence onto your clipboard.

7. Open the Run option by pressing WINDOWS+R.

8. Use CONTROL+V to paste the command line into the Run field. Press
Enter.

9. Return to the Notepad screen and close the file.

10. The function will continue automatically until the system requests a
Restart. Press enter to initiate that process.
NOTE: If the latest version of Jaws is already present in your system and you
try to execute the new file, a warning message will appear, directing you to
use Control Panel to remove the current version before attempting to install
the new one. If you have more than one version of Jaws on your system or you
are familiar with how to operate narrator, this might not be a problem.
However, using this command line function is a more direct approach. There may
be other ways to achieve the same results.
