Yes, I had already maximized the document. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Hans Pauli Sundstein Sent: Saturday, December 24, 2016 8:16 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 and MS Word 2016 document focus problem
Hi. Do you have maximized the document window? If you have created a desktop icon for your Microsoft Word, open the properties for the shortcut, and set it to run the program maximized every time it start's. Hope this can solve your problem. But if it doesn't work, then we'll have to try something else. But once I name the new document, I can switch back and forth without a problem. Does what you describe with Word 2016 happen after you've named the newly opened document? -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of r...@q.com Sent: Friday, December 23, 2016 11:28 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 and MS Word 2016 document focus problem Hi, I am running JFW 18, Windows 10, and MS Word 2016. When I open a document when another document is already open I have a lot of trouble getting Jaws to focus on the newly opened document. Jaws+T says that I am in the new document. However, Jaws will not read the document and focus returns to the previous document. Sometimes I can move the Jaws cursor to text in the newly opened document and route the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor. However, this only works part of the time. Sometimes I can resolve the problem by alt-tabbing to another program and then alt-tabbing back to the newly opened document. But, again, this works only part of the time. Sometimes I can resolve the problem by restarting Jaws. I have tried going back to the default user settings (control+spacebar, Z). That does not resolve the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?
