Bookshare has a daisy audio mode and a text to speech mode and I know that with the VR Stream people can toggle to a spelling mode for words. But Bookshare is terrible with accents. However, the daisy audio versions are quite good and I sometimes choose them instead of a BARD or commercial book for a novel. It depends on how much dramatization you like in your reading.

NLS will at least spell the names of authors. As for Bookshare, which is a text-only service, I have a feeling the use of accents will vary. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: Friday, January 20, 2017 3:47 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] RE2: Very diff experience between Audible and Book Share I am in the same place as Justin, I read non-fiction where I may need to learn how to spell proper nouns or Spanish texts where I need to see accent marks. Will either of these do that? The books I get are mostly nonfiction, and I've got to go back and forth to look at stuff. Bookshare books which for most part need your native device TTS robot to read can be far less relaxing and pleasurable to listen to than Audible where most if not all books are recorded by real live human voice actors. I tried to read novels and books from Bookshare using my devices TTS and just did not enjoy the experience at all. The same books for example, from Audible, or any other from Audible on the other hand is far more relaxing and pleasurable as you are listening to a live real human being who has all these speech inflections that a robot TTS however advanced our current TS voices may be, just do not match. Pl do consider this factor in your book purchase decision.
