I'm sorry, but I disagree. Using the _visual_ layout of the screen is meaningless in the context of JAWS and what JAWS sees or fails to see. JAWS does not reference the visual layout, but a "document model" that is reformatted in order to permit JAWS to function properly. The same applies in Internet Explorer: to prove this, open IE with a sighted ;person alongside and navigate the web page. What JAWS reports and what the sighted person actually sees are not at all the same.

If you notice Outlook Express layout from a visual stand point, at the left corner of the window is the folder list tree view. Directly to the right of that is the message list, and going from a clockwise rotation, below that, if you have it set to preview message with the preview pane open that is where it sits, in other words, the bottom right hand corner. To the left of that is the contact list pane, or to the bottom left hand corner of the window. The only thing the contact list should interfere with is the displaying of the message in the preview pane. Even then, this should not affect how much of the preview window is open, as the folder tree view and the contact list pane are the same size by default and unless you actually change the number of pixels it should use, then, as I said, it should not affect the message view. The pane that would affect the message list pane is the folder list, but that is easily rectified. I believe someone has already posted a solution to this problem via the layout menu and layout options so there should be no need to delete your contact list from the view if you like it where it is.
