Bear in mind that if the document's author or owner has locked the document
with a password, you cannot convert it to text without first running the PDF
file through an unlock utility. My personal favorite is APDFPR (PDF Password
Recovery) and you can search on the acronymic name APDFPR on Google to
locate the source. There is also a free program for doing this, I think, but
I wonder if it's kept current as new locking algorithms are introduced into
Acrobat Reader.
