Hey Greg, Great minds think alike. When doing this I get a prompt asking me if I want to disconnect my modem before going offline. So as you correctly point out it is a workable work around.
I can thus hang up this way without shutting down the pc. Someday I'll figure out how to restore that dialogue box. Anyway many thanks.
