Cliff,

You may want to poke around in power settings under the control pannel and 
just see what there is to see about not keeping the hard drive spinning 
and such, things that help keep a battery alive.  the other thing is see 
if you can figure out how to turn the screen brightness down to minimum. 
that way that big honkin screen won't suck down so much juice.
