Walt-
got it!!!
It turns out the reading interupt was not checked.

i have no idea why it was not checked in Word and it was checked in Groupwise,
but it's now checked in word and all is well.
thank you very much.

Paul -

Make sure that the Typing Interrupt check box is checked in your Default and
Microsoft Word configurations by opening the Configuration Manager, opening
each of these two configurations, then opening User Settings and verifying
that item.

If this isn't the answer, try a JAWS repair. This shouldn't be happening.

Subject: [jaws-users] reading Word documents

Greetings all:
A few months ago I upgraded aplications at work. Most things have
since gone well.
However there is one item that continues to stump me:

I am currently using JAWS 7.0,
 OFFICE 2003 and Groupwise 6.5.
Prior to this, I had used JAWS 3.7, and Office 2000 .
When using JAWS 3.7 , I could quickly use my down arrow when reading
aword document when i wanted to edit the document. Each time i pressed
the down arrow, JAWS would stop reading the line i was on and would
begin reading the line to which i moved. Unfortunately , when using
JAWS 7.0, JAWS will continue to read a line even when I have moved off
the line. thus when i want to edit what may be the 25th line of a
document , I have to listen to JAWS read lines that I want to quickly
skip over. Why was I abel to do this using 3.7 , without making any
setting change, and now using 7.0 I cannot find any option to have
jaws
read as i want it to read?

Interestingly, in Groupwise , JAWS reads as it always has. AS I move
down a message quickly using my down arrow, as I move to a new line,
JAWS stops reading the old line and begins reading the new line.

I've looked for differences in settings in Groupwise vs. Word and
cannot find the secret.

I would appreciate any suggestions you folks have.
Sincerely,

-Paul d'Adario
