Yah, but I cannot write on the cd because I am blind. How does this help
use who cannot see to write the key?

Don't Lose the Program Serial Number Again

Maybe you're reformatting your hard drive or you just bought a new computer
and need to reinstall a program from the CD, but can't find, or can't see
the little card with the serial number on it. I hate that!

Before you reformat or erase the drive on your old system, go to
Help/About... in each program. In most cases, this is done by using the key
combination ALT+H. You can then arrow down to About... in this menu. Your
serial number should be there.

Now that we have the numbers, what to do about it? Is there a better way to
keep them?

You could type up a list, but since you still have the CD, just get a
permanent marker (preferably one made for marking CDs) and write the number
on the label side of the disk. There is some debate over the effects of ink
on a CD over time, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Now it doesn't matter what happens to the little card, book, or whatever the
number was on. As long as you have the disk, you have the number.

In fact, if a program asks you to register a user name and password, you can
do the same thing to avoid losing those. I know, the disk is in the PC at
the time you're installing. Just braille that registration information on
the CD case / envelope or on the manual's inside cover. Just don't store
your email passwords, bank pins, or other security information this way.

Retrieve Serial Numbers or CD Keys from your computer

KeyFinder Thing is a simple utility to retrieve the Serial numbers or CD
Keys of Microsoft software installed on your system. It includes options to
export the list of found keys and a search option to find keys not included
by default. While this utility is aimed at Microsoft products, the author
has built it to be versatile so he can include other non-MS products.
Currently KeyFinder Thing is able to search for serial numbers or CD keys
for 90 software titles.

There are 2 versions of KeyFinder; Full and Lite.

The full version requires you to have .NET 2.0 FX installed.

As for the Lite version, its smaller! You don't need to have .NET 2.0 FX
installed. But it doesn't have the features of the full version. Its basic
and to the point.

The Full version has a feature to search the registry for other serial
numbers not currently supported. I prefer to use the full version because
it's more advance than the Lite version and it's not complicated. The best
part of this software is it's FREE.

Note: Only use this software on your computer. Using this software on other
computers to steal CD Keys is wrong.
