Hi Lois, You can stop Jaws from reading out the "Read Only Edit" statement by going into the configuration manager by pressing the Insert-F2 keys while in Outlook Express or Outlook.
Once the configuration manager opens up, hit the alt-S keys for the setting menu, and arrow down too Speech and Sounds Manager. Once that dialog box opens, you'll be confronted with a combo box, and, unless you've changed the sounds manager scheme Jaws uses, this combo box should read "Classic". If it does say this, tab to the "Edit current scheme" button and press space bar. This will open up another dialog box. In that dialog box, control-tab to the tab called "Control Type" tab. This will land you on a list box of approximately 84 items. Press the letter "R" on your keyboard until you hear Jaws say, "Read Only Edit speak with a normal voice" or something to that affect. Once you hear Jaws say this, tab once to the list of checkboxes, and arrow down to ignore. Tab again to the ok button, then tab to the ok button on the other dialog box left open. Once you're done, press control-S to save the current configuration, then exit the configuration manager. You should be set to go from there.
