Sounds like something's overlaying the screen. What do you use for a
firewall? Anti virus program? Have you tried looking at the window with the
invisible cursor--sometimes that'll reveal things nothing else will? Are the
video drivers up to date?

Subject: [jaws-users] weird jaws 7 behavior on a notebook

Using an Averitec 3270 notebook and XP home, Outlook express 6 and Jaws 7,
this morning while going through my Email in the Message list view, I notice
that some characters in people's names are not coming out. Gene Asmas name
is pronounced "gen sma," (sorry, Gene, yours was the one I could remember
*grin*) and another person's Email which should have been Kathy Smith is
being pronounced as "kat ith." It's as if there's a "blind spot," right in
the middle of the message list view that I cannot get rid of by maximizing,
reloading Jaws and Outlook Express both individually, or refreshing the
screen with insert escape. Is there a fix for this? It's a minor
annoyance, but pesky. Once in the message body pane, BTW, Jaws reads the
entire message perfectly.
