Hi Larry, there's actually a newer version available, which is 5.3.
When you download it and install it, make sure to do a full install, then you can go about unchecking the things you don't want to install, like the 50 free music downloads,, the modern skin support and the WinAmp agent. When I used to install WinAmp, previous versions were always a problem for me because for some reason or another, Jaws wouldn't read whether the check marks were checked or not, so I always had to guess, that is, until I wised up and selected full install, and the check marks were checked on by default, that way if you press space bar on the parts you wanted to deselect, you knew you were unchecking them. Anyway, the install screens for the newer version, delightfully enough, are almost completely accessible, and Jaws now reads the check marks correctly, so there's no guessing. To address your other issue, simply download the newer version, and redo the installation, while at the same time, remembering to check the, "Associate with Audio Files" box, and making sure it's checked. I'm not sure if you want it to play CD's or video files, myself, while I do prefer to play CD's in WinAmp, I prefer to use Windows Media Player for video files. Just a preference. I know David answered your other question about the C and space keys to pause and play files, my question is whether you went through the online help system by pressing insert-H for available hotkeys. If you control-tab through the three windows, the main window, the equalizer window and the playlist window, if you hit the insert-H command, you get specific hotkeys for those particular windows you happen to be in. Did you try this, because I'm thinking that if you did and weren't able to bring up the online help, than you have bigger problems. Just a thought and I hope this helps you.
