Hi Bill,

I have never heard of the system manager you are using, but that isn't all
that strange, since I rarely use extra utilities on my computer, short of
spyware and anti-virus software.

The hotkey I was referring to is the hotkey of ctrl+alt+delete. This will
bring up the Window's Task Manager.

Once in the task manager, you can check out the system resources that are
being used up, you have to do this with the Jaws cursor, since the
information isn't accessible with the regular PC cursor

If you ctrl+tab over, you can check out the applications you are running at
that given moment, and if you keep ctrl+tabbing over, you will eventually
get to the running processes tab. This identifies all the programs,
utilities and drivers that may be running at that precise given moment.

You can go through this list, and see what's running and what isn't. If
there is something that you don't understand, like a file name or
information on the process, try virtualizing the window by hitting
ctrl+shift+W, and then copying the particular line to the clipboard, then
shifting over to Google, and pasting it in there.

Make sure you put quotes around it, otherwise you will not get helpful
results.

Alternatively, you can search on Google for the file name, and it will
usually bring up some really good information on the file and process, once
you get through the tons of stuff there to entice you to buy process
detectors, or in other words, the sponsored links.

Anyway, please pay heed to my earlier message about the part that you may
see when searching for a particular process on Google, that you don't listen
to any site that tells you what should be running and what shouldn't,
because what a sighted user may think is not necessary to run, Jaws may
think otherwise, and quit altogether on you.

Another thought I had after I typed and sent my last message, is that you
might want to check out what is being started up in your MSCONFIG file.

You can get to this dialog box by going to the start menu, then pressing the
letter R and typing in msconfig in the resulting dialog box.

In this MS Config dialog box, you can edit the system.ini, win.ini, your
start-up file, and specify what you want to run and what you don't when
Windows starts up. You can also edit the processes running from this dialog
box also.

You might want to make sure that you go through this and see if there's
something running in the background that isn't suppose to.

For example, I once went through my MS Config file, and when I tabbed over
to the processes tab, I found a Live Sex Chat line thingy running in the
background, and it was always trying to dial out on my phone line, and I
didn't think my computer doing that was all that weird since I was on
dial-up at the time.

Anyway, you can see where I'm going with this. You could always check your
system to see what's running in the background, at least once per month, as
a precaution. I must warn you, this isn't really a precaution, in that by
the time you find it in here, it's already in there, and all you can do is
find it on your system, and delete it.

Anyway, Hope this helps.

Victor
