When I wrote Mitch directly, he informed me that _sometimes_, the spell checker works and that he has Word 2003 installed. Since he just happened to let us all know that he's frequently receiving errors in OE, I think he's going to have to bite the bullet and re-install Windows and start over from square one, as it sounds like either a virus or something corrupted in Windows somewhere. If he has a Windows install CD, he could try running the WFC (Windows File Checker) program.
