Try making the following changes to word/office and see if it helps.

Make the following changes with Microsoft Word as the window with focus.

1. Go to tools, options.

2. On the general tab: Uncheck start up task Payne. Press OK.

3. Go to tools, autocorrect.

4. on the Auto format as you type tab: uncheck automatic bulleted lists.

5. Uncheck automatic numbered lists. Press OK.

6. Go to tools, customise.

7. Check always show full menus. Press OK or close.

8. Make sure the office assistant is not visible by pressing
control+insert+F4.

9. Go to the view menu. Select normal and press enter.

10. Make sure the word window is maximised.

11. Close Word.

12. restart Word.

No promises, but you never know!

Regards.

Subject: [jaws-users] Jaws not readding screen in Word 2003

Since a reinstallation following a hard disk failure Jaws 5 is not
reading the document screen in Word 2003 though I have been assured by
some one seeing the screen all text is there. Jaws speaks all else, I
can read the functions on the menu bar, read tools, options etc. and
spell check messages, characters and words are read as they are typed
in, but attempting to read the screen the only response is "blank". All
my stored Word documents can be called up but the result is the same,
jaws will not read anything which it had done quite well previously. The
screen refresh, insert escape has no effect.

Any help appreciated.
Alan.
