I hope to find the time to implement what JAXB calls the "general
content property" (see JAXB 1.0, 5.9.3). I personally prefer the
"Model group binding style" (5.9.8), but that is less important,
because the "general content property" is required for mixed content
and wildcards. While I hope to get the "general content property"
within the next two months, the scope for the other features will
definitely be larger. I'd be happy to finish that within the next six
or nine months.

The marshaller doesn't generate any data at all. It only traverses
over the supplied object like a visitor and converts what it finds
into native SAX events. That can hardly be improved.
