Granted, and I usually respond to open questions with a request for
more info unless we smell a troll. Sometimes people don't know how to
frame a question for a platform until they've had more experience.

The question "how do I create a database" is Really almost as
fundamental as you get. That IS the starting point from which one can
then respond with "I tried this and that after I created the
database".

But tone is important here too - rather than someone asking if the OP
had access to documentation (which prior to v5 has been useless and I
haven't seen v5 docs yet), the request was simply ignored, and now
we're seeing it was ignored intentionally. That is what I'm taking
issue with here. If nothing else, I'd wonder if jBase Marketing or
Sales would have contacted this person to see if they had a reseller
who was inattentive.

Personally I'm not qualified. While my appreciation for the platform
is always high, I've stopped using jBase for a number of reasons. So I
couldn't test whatever info I provide.

I tend to approach jBase using the "crutch" of structuring an
environment like a Pick platform, but I know that's not ideal. If I
suggest MV.CREATE.ACCOUNT, I'm sure there would be a flurry of dissent
(that might have been a better way to start the discussion, oh well).

I was hoping to see someone point to some good fundamentals info with
examples for various kinds of environments configured with a variety
of environment variables. I doubt that sort of information/tutorial
exists, though 8 years ago I was assured that documentation like that
was being written. (Perhaps it's in v5?)

Anything I'd suggest about JEDIFILENAME_SYSTEM, JBCRELEASEDIR, and
JEDIFILENAME_MD would probably be dismissed as incomplete or
inaccurate. I'm open to criticism but why open with bad info that
needs to be corrected. So I opted to wait for someone to post
something helpful ... and that didn't happen.

Yeah, when it seemed evident that he wasn't going to get a response
here. I told him where to fish rather than tossing him a fish.

Best,
T
