The codes are always the same - well for the last 20 or 30 years. If you want to use different terminal types (other than VT100 types) then you can load the escape sequence in your login paragraph - I have done that since 1990. However, if you only ever use a terminal emulator rather than buying green screens (can you still buy a green screen?) then hard coding is not an issue since all Terminal Emulators have a VT100 mode and, of course, the Linux command line is a VT100.
