If you want to make sure the new system is set up like the old one then run the command 'jdiag -vL' and save the 'jdiag.out' file from the old system. You can then use that file to set up the environment on the new system after jBASE is installed.

If you run 32b Win 7 there are only 4-5 environmental variables to

I have found myself needing to migrate from XP Home 32 bit to
Windows 7 Pro 32 bit a little earlier than I had planned. I am

XP machine motherboard was in the process of a meltdown
(literally, caps were swollen, ready to explode), but my service
guy was able to use Windows Easy Transfer and get pretty much
everything off the XP machine and onto a new one. As an aside,
this new machine isn't fast, it's sudden!

It's going pretty well, but getting Jbase working is rather
involved. Thhe biggest challenge I have right now is getting the
system and user environment variables merged into Win7. Does
anyone have a method easier than manually entering them one at a
    time?

Thanks guys for all your input. The only reason I would even
consider leaving xp is that it will probably be impossible to
get the updates if the system ever crashed. I have now found a
program downloads all the updates to cd and will install them
easily. So as long as I am not dependent on MS for those
updates, I'll be staying with xp. I have an xp install disk with
sp2, sp3 on separate cd and now all the updates on another cd so
I can install any time I choose to.

Yes it's possible and yes get a 'pro' version (avoid anything
from Microsoft with home anywhere in the name), and it's
simplest if you get a 32 bit version.

3.4.10 is the last version, but we have a few laggards so you
might try whatever version you have in hand.

Depending on which version you are currently running going to
    3.4.10 may require recompilation.

Install the .NET Framework SDK V1.1 (to get the C compiler) first.

Win 7 pro 32 bit works fine.

should upgrade my jbase to version 5, I must say at this
point in my life, I really don't want to go through the
learning curve and I only have one "client" left with a
        small application running.

Sooooo.... Is it possible to put my jb 3.x on Win7, and if
so, what version do I need? I have "Home Premium" right
now, but think there is a "Pro" version that I should get. Is this true? I would assume there are system variables
that must be set too, if I want to have the full
capabilities of compiling and cataloging basic programs.
