After several hours of downloading and trying every driver in the world, I cam across a post from some-one who suggested that the integrated audio setting in the bios setup would surely be turned off, and it was. I turned it on and in about 2 minutes I had my sound to the point where the icon was even telling me that my speakers were not plugged in.
