EDELETE in summary is the combination of SELECT and DELETE. So, rather than SELECT CUSTOMER WITH CITY = “TAMPA” DELETE CUSTOMER You can do it all in one statement EDELETE CUSTOMER WITH CITY = “TAMPA” Dan Ell | jBASE Technical Engineer jBASE International, Inc. 813-498-2544 | 866-582-8447 [email protected] | www.jbase.com 1050 Calle Amanecer, Suite A | San Clemente, CA 92673 From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Joyce White Sent: Tuesday, March 31, 2020 8:56 AM To: jBASE <[email protected]> Subject: EDELETE VS DELETE Hi, all! Can anyone please tell me the difference between EDELETE and DELETE, and whether one is preferred over the other? I used EDELETE yesterday to remove a record. I forgot the quotes and removed the whole file. Trying to do some research to see if there's a safer way to delete things, but jBASE documentation is not so good. To be clear, the command I used yesterday was EDELETE filename record, instead of EDELETE filename "record". It deleted filename, then told me it couldn't find a dictionary item for record. So basically it deleted everything BUT the record I chose. :( Thanks, Joyce -- -- IMPORTANT: T24/Globus posts are no longer accepted on this forum.
